Community & User Content Standards

Review RaceTeams.com standards for profiles, listings, reviews, messages, photos, sponsorship disclosures, prohibited content, safety, and marketplace conduct.

About the RaceTeams Community & User Content Standards

RaceTeams.com exists to help the racing community connect and do legitimate business through Shop, Book, and Partner opportunities.

That works only when Users can trust the people, information, Listings, messages, reviews, photographs, sponsorship claims, and other content they encounter on the marketplace.

These Community & User Content Standards ("Standards") apply to User Content and marketplace communications on RaceTeams, including profiles, Listings, descriptions, photographs, video, audio, logos, documents, reviews, messages, links, comments, sponsorship materials, and other content submitted through the Service.

These Standards supplement and are incorporated into the RaceTeams Terms of Service. They should be read together with the Listing Standards & Prohibited Items Policy and other applicable RaceTeams policies. The more specific policy controls when a rule applies to a particular Listing, transaction, payment, prohibited product, or legal issue.

1. Core community standard

Use RaceTeams in a way that is truthful, relevant, respectful, lawful, and consistent with legitimate motorsports commerce.

Users are responsible for the content they submit and for making sure it:

  • Accurately represents the User, Listing, Offering, experience, or transaction
  • Does not materially mislead another User
  • Does not violate another person's rights
  • Does not create a false impression of affiliation, authority, ownership, certification, or endorsement
  • Does not expose another person to unreasonable privacy or safety risk
  • Complies with applicable law and RaceTeams policies

A racing marketplace can be direct and candid without becoming deceptive, threatening, abusive, or unsafe.

2. Truthful profiles, Listings, and claims

Do not publish false or materially misleading information.

This includes false or unsupported claims involving:

  • Identity or affiliation
  • Ownership or authority
  • Vehicle title or liens
  • Product condition or history
  • Fitment or compatibility
  • Testing or certification
  • Licenses, credentials, insurance, or qualifications
  • Authenticity or provenance
  • Availability
  • Pricing or mandatory charges
  • Shipping or delivery
  • Sponsorship rights
  • Audience size, reach, impressions, engagement, or media value
  • Competition history or results
  • Reviews, ratings, testimonials, or endorsements
  • Seller Profile Reviewed status
  • Stripe or other identity/payment verification

If important information is unknown, say that it is unknown rather than guessing or presenting an assumption as fact.

3. Respectful conduct

Users may disagree, negotiate hard, leave honest negative reviews, question a Seller's claims, decline an offer, or report a problem.

Users may not use RaceTeams to engage in:

  • Credible threats of violence or physical harm
  • Harassment or targeted intimidation
  • Stalking
  • Extortion or blackmail
  • Repeated unwanted abusive contact
  • Hate speech or demeaning attacks directed at people based on protected or legally sensitive characteristics
  • Encouragement of unlawful violence
  • Malicious humiliation or exploitation

RaceTeams may consider context, severity, repetition, intent, and marketplace safety when evaluating conduct.

RaceTeams is a motorsports marketplace, not an adult-content service.

Users may not post or transmit through RaceTeams:

  • Pornographic or sexually explicit content unrelated to legitimate marketplace use
  • Sexual exploitation
  • Sexual content involving minors
  • Grooming or predatory conduct
  • Human trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation
  • Content that unlawfully sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor

An adult who creates or manages content involving a minor must be the minor's parent, legal guardian, or otherwise authorized to do so and must follow the RaceTeams Privacy Policy, Terms, and applicable law.

Do not publish a minor's home address, exact birth date, school schedule, medical information, financial information, government identification, or other unnecessary sensitive information.

5. Privacy, confidential information, and doxxing

Do not post, request, sell, expose, or misuse another person's private or sensitive information without authority.

Prohibited content may include:

  • Passwords or login credentials
  • Bank or payment-account information
  • Full payment-card information
  • Government identification numbers
  • Private tax information
  • Private medical information
  • Nonpublic home addresses
  • Confidential customer records
  • Stolen business records
  • Private communications published without lawful authority where publication violates applicable rights
  • Sensitive information about a minor
  • Personal information used to threaten, harass, defraud, or facilitate identity theft

When sharing titles, licenses, identification, invoices, inspection records, or similar documents for a legitimate transaction, redact information that is not reasonably necessary.

6. Intellectual property and rights of others

Only post content you own or are authorized to use.

Users are responsible for permissions involving:

  • Copyrighted photographs, video, music, artwork, and written content
  • Trademarks and logos
  • Racing series, sanctioning-body, event, and track marks
  • Team and driver branding
  • Sponsor assets
  • Manufacturer branding
  • Merchandise designs
  • Publicity and likeness rights
  • Confidential or licensed materials

Do not upload counterfeit merchandise, unauthorized reproductions, pirated media, stolen photographs, forged autographs, fabricated provenance, or content falsely implying that a rights holder approved a product, sponsorship, or Listing.

Copyright and intellectual-property complaints are governed by the RaceTeams Copyright & DMCA Policy.

7. Reviews, ratings, and testimonials

Reviews should help other Users understand a genuine marketplace experience.

Users may not:

  • Create or post a fake review or testimonial
  • Review a transaction, product, service, or Seller the reviewer did not genuinely experience when the review implies otherwise
  • Buy or sell fake reviews
  • Condition payment, discounts, free products, prizes, or other incentives on a positive or negative review
  • Use employees, owners, agents, family members, or other insiders to create undisclosed supposedly independent reviews
  • Coordinate review manipulation
  • Threaten a User for leaving a good-faith negative review
  • Submit a review to obtain money, property, or concessions the reviewer is not entitled to receive
  • Use artificial accounts or automation to inflate ratings or reputation

If a reviewer has a material relationship that could affect how readers evaluate the review - such as employment, ownership, family relationship, sponsorship, payment, a free product, discount, referral compensation, or another meaningful benefit - that connection should be clearly disclosed where required.

RaceTeams may remove, restrict, label, investigate, or preserve reviews that appear fake, manipulated, unlawful, abusive, unrelated to a genuine experience, or otherwise inconsistent with these Standards. RaceTeams does not remove an honest negative opinion merely because RaceTeams or another User disagrees with it.

8. Sponsorships, endorsements, influencers, and material connections

Racing depends heavily on sponsorship, product support, ambassador relationships, affiliate arrangements, contingency programs, free products, discounts, and other commercial relationships.

When a User publishes promotional content, an endorsement, testimonial, review, or other statement that is affected by a material relationship, the User is responsible for making any disclosure required by law clear and conspicuous.

Users may not:

  • Hide a paid or compensated endorsement when disclosure is required
  • Claim independent or neutral status when the User has a material undisclosed connection
  • Fabricate sponsor results, audience data, testimonials, or case studies
  • Guarantee sales, return on investment, media value, audience, race results, or another outcome without a truthful and supportable basis
  • Offer rights the User does not control
  • Misrepresent a team's, driver's, track's, series', manufacturer's, broadcaster's, sponsor's, or other rights holder's involvement

A RaceTeams Listing does not itself establish that every sponsorship or promotional statement complies with advertising law.

9. Fraud, scams, impersonation, and deceptive conduct

Users may not use RaceTeams to deceive another person or obtain money, property, information, or services through fraud.

Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Impersonating another person, team, company, sponsor, series, track, manufacturer, or RaceTeams representative
  • Fake Accounts or fabricated business identities used deceptively
  • False ownership or title claims
  • Fake invoices, inspection reports, certificates, credentials, receipts, or payment confirmations
  • Counterfeit or stolen property
  • Phishing
  • Fraudulent payment instructions
  • Advance-fee scams
  • False shipping or delivery claims
  • False non-delivery claims
  • Manipulated transaction evidence
  • Fraudulent fundraising, securities, gambling, or investment schemes
  • Misrepresenting a sponsorship as an investment or guaranteed financial return

RaceTeams may preserve information and cooperate with Payment Providers, rights holders, insurers, regulators, or law enforcement when appropriate.

10. Spam, solicitation, scraping, and marketplace abuse

RaceTeams contact and messaging tools exist to support genuine racing-related marketplace activity.

Users may not:

  • Send repetitive unsolicited commercial messages unrelated to a legitimate RaceTeams interaction
  • Harvest User contact information to create unauthorized marketing lists
  • Scrape profiles, Listings, pricing, or marketplace data contrary to the Terms
  • Send chain messages or bulk spam
  • Use bots or fake Accounts to create artificial demand, inquiries, followers, reviews, or engagement
  • Flood Sellers or Buyers with irrelevant solicitations
  • Use RaceTeams data to harass Users outside the Service
  • Circumvent access controls or security measures

Ordinary good-faith business development, Buyer questions, sponsorship inquiries, offers, and follow-up communications are allowed when relevant to the User's legitimate RaceTeams activity and otherwise consistent with the Terms.

11. Marketplace fee circumvention

Users may not use RaceTeams Listings, inquiries, messages, or introductions to evade an applicable RaceTeams fee.

A Seller may communicate with a Buyer and may use an off-platform payment or closing process when RaceTeams rules allow it, but doing so does not eliminate an applicable Marketplace-Originated Lead Fee or other fee established in the Terms and Marketplace Fees page.

Users may not falsify the date, identity, price, consideration, relationship history, or transaction structure to conceal an applicable RaceTeams-originated transaction.

12. Motorsports safety and unlawful racing activity

Motorsports involves real physical risk. RaceTeams permits lawful competition and motorsports commerce but may not be used to encourage or facilitate illegal or recklessly dangerous activity.

Users may not use RaceTeams content or communications to:

  • Organize or promote illegal street racing or unauthorized speed contests on public roads
  • Encourage reckless public-road driving
  • Promote intentional evasion of required safety or emissions laws
  • Falsely claim that a product, vehicle, service, or activity is safe, certified, street legal, sanctioned, or approved
  • Provide deceptive instructions intended to defeat required safety systems or inspections
  • Encourage a participant to disregard track, venue, series, sanctioning-body, licensing, age, medical, or safety requirements

Sanctioned racing, legal closed-course competition, permitted testing, private-property activities, technical discussion, historical discussion, and lawful motorsports content are not prohibited merely because motorsports can be dangerous.

13. Weapons, drugs, dangerous materials, and other prohibited content

Content may not be used to offer, request, advertise, or facilitate products or conduct prohibited by the RaceTeams Listing Standards & Prohibited Items Policy.

This includes prohibited weapons, explosives, illegal drugs, certain hazardous materials, emissions-defeat products, stolen property, counterfeit goods, fraudulent investments, illegal gambling, malicious software, unauthorized surveillance, and other categories identified in RaceTeams policies.

Racing fuels and qualifying chemicals are governed by the restricted-category rules in the Listing Standards & Prohibited Items Policy and may be limited to inquiry-only, compliant local pickup, or another lawful transaction process when standard payment or shipping is not permitted.

Users may not post or transmit:

  • Malware
  • Ransomware
  • Viruses or destructive code
  • Credential-stealing links
  • Phishing pages
  • Unauthorized tracking or surveillance tools
  • Links primarily designed to deceive Users about their destination
  • Instructions intended to compromise RaceTeams, Sharetribe, Stripe, another User, or a third-party system

Do not ask another User to send passwords, card security codes, or other credentials through RaceTeams messages.

15. AI-generated, edited, and synthetic content

AI tools, image editing, rendering, and automated writing may be used only when the resulting content remains accurate and does not deceive Users.

Users may not use AI or editing tools to:

  • Fabricate product condition, damage repairs, vehicle history, ownership, titles, certifications, inspection records, signatures, invoices, reviews, testimonials, audience data, or sponsorship results
  • Generate a fake review that appears to describe a genuine experience
  • Create an image that materially misrepresents the actual item being sold
  • Clone or imitate a person's identity or likeness without authority
  • Conceal defects or create false evidence
  • Impersonate RaceTeams or another marketplace participant

Mockups, concept images, manufacturer images, renderings, or AI-generated illustrations that do not show the actual Offering should be clearly identified when a reasonable Buyer could otherwise mistake them for the actual item, placement, condition, facility, person, or deliverable.

16. Content involving disputes

Users may describe genuine disputes and leave honest reviews, but RaceTeams is not a venue for threats, extortion, public disclosure of unnecessary sensitive information, or coordinated harassment.

When a transaction problem occurs:

  • Use the Seller and RaceTeams dispute process
  • Keep statements factual
  • Preserve evidence
  • Avoid publishing private payment, address, identification, or medical information
  • Do not threaten criminal accusations, public humiliation, or business harm to obtain money or a concession you are not legally entitled to receive

A disagreement does not by itself prove fraud. Users should distinguish facts, personal opinions, and unresolved allegations.

17. Reporting content or conduct

Users should report suspected:

  • Fraud or impersonation
  • Threats or harassment
  • Stolen or counterfeit goods
  • Unsafe or recalled products
  • Illegal street-racing activity
  • Intellectual-property infringement
  • Privacy violations
  • Exploitation of minors
  • Fake or manipulated reviews
  • Malicious links or software
  • Prohibited Listings
  • Other serious violations

Reports may be sent to support@raceteams.com.

Include, when available:

  • The Listing, profile, review, message, or transaction involved
  • URL or transaction ID
  • User or Seller name
  • Description of the concern
  • Screenshots, photographs, records, or other relevant evidence
  • A reliable way for RaceTeams to contact you

Copyright complaints should follow the RaceTeams Copyright & DMCA Policy when applicable.

18. Moderation and enforcement

RaceTeams may, but is not required to, review every piece of User Content before or after publication.

Depending on the circumstances, RaceTeams may:

  • Take no action
  • Request clarification or evidence
  • Require a correction or disclosure
  • Edit formatting without changing the substantive meaning
  • Add a warning, label, or restriction
  • Limit distribution or visibility
  • Remove or disable content
  • Restrict messaging, Listing, review, transaction, or payout privileges
  • Remove Seller Profile Reviewed status
  • Suspend or terminate an Account
  • Preserve evidence
  • Report conduct to a Payment Provider, carrier, insurer, rights holder, regulator, or law-enforcement agency

RaceTeams may act immediately when it reasonably believes action is needed to address fraud, safety, security, unlawful conduct, marketplace integrity, legal process, Payment Provider requirements, or serious policy violations.

RaceTeams is not required to publicly explain every enforcement technique or disclose confidential fraud-prevention, security, legal, provider, or law-enforcement information.

19. Appeals and reconsideration

RaceTeams may offer a User an opportunity to provide additional information or request reconsideration of a content or Account decision. RaceTeams will provide an appeal or complaint process when required by applicable law.

An appeal does not automatically restore content, release a payout, reverse a Payment Provider action, or suspend another transaction or legal deadline.

20. No endorsement by RaceTeams

Publication, Seller Profile Reviewed status, search placement, a review, a badge, a RaceTeams message, or RaceTeams' decision not to remove content does not mean RaceTeams:

  • Endorses the User
  • Guarantees the content is accurate
  • Confirms legal ownership
  • Certifies safety or quality
  • Approves intellectual-property rights
  • Verifies every sponsorship claim
  • Guarantees Seller performance
  • Guarantees a review is correct

Users remain responsible for due diligence and their own decisions.

21. Changes to these Standards

RaceTeams may update these Standards prospectively as marketplace features, risks, laws, and business practices change. The current version will be posted through the Service with an updated "Last Updated" date.
